Ft. Nisqually was the first European settlement in Puget Sound
A store in the 1800's was the COSTCO of it's day---
if they didn't have it, you didn't need it !
The Factor's House (Manager) is one of the two
surviving buildings from the original Fort
We learned how to sew a button and some fabric
into a cute little pin-on decoration
They had a Vegetable garden and live Chickens--
If you wanted to buy something, like a Hudson's Bay blanket,
you'd have to trade for it with Beaver pelts --
The Granary (Grain storehouse) is getting a new roof--
it's the only other original building from the Fort,
and the oldest building in Puget Sound
